Step-by-step Guide
Mint Water
- Bring a liter of water to a boil in a pot and, when it reaches the boiling point, immerse 10 mint leaves for 30 seconds to blanch them.
- Remove the mint leaves from the boiling water, drain them well, and immediately submerge them in a bowl with cold water and ice to stop the cooking process.
- Drain them again and place them in a blender along with 7.5 ml of the cold water used to cool the mint. Blend until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- Strain the mixture using a fine sieve and store the obtained liquid in an airtight container or bottle.
Ice Cube
- Mix all the ingredients cold until they are well combined, ensuring there are no lumps or separation.
- Fill the molds with the mixture to the brim, ensuring there are no air pockets, and freeze for at least 4 hours or until completely solid.
- Serve them immediately on a chilled plate recently taken out of the freezer to prevent them from melting.
Recommendations & Tricks
- When preparing mint water, infuse the mint leaves in hot water for about 5 minutes, then cool before filling the ice cube trays. This will give a more intense flavor.
- To achieve ice cubes with a fresh and balanced taste, make sure to properly measure the quantities of cachaça or rum and lemon juice before mixing them with water or mint water.
- Store the prepared ice cubes in an airtight bag in the freezer to prevent them from absorbing odors from other foods and to maintain their aromatic flavor.
